For me, family and loved ones are a kind of foundation that builds my identity. I possess an individual part of "myself" that is independent because it is different, and in the future, it will be a component of the identities of the next generations. Together, however, we establish the "language" we use. The sculpture represents my mom, dad, sister, and me. I decided that my work would be made up of large blocks. They can be assembled, disassembled, and rearranged into different combinations. The form I chose is a kind of playfulness because blocks remind us of childhood. However, by moving the blocks and understanding their new meaning, the gestures we make in this play become serious, as they now concern our lives and our identities. During our interaction, a sense of purpose slowly emerges from the initial chaos.
